Habitat for Humanity

Every workday, Southern Homes' employees can be found working on various construction sites throughout the area. And one weekend a year, they volunteer their time as a company with Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West.

Habitat for Humanity was a natural choice for the company, which has been building homes throughout Southeast Louisiana since 1990. The whole company participates including Vice President Chris Kornman and CFO Chris Taylor.

Marketing Coordinator Christine Solomon organizes the volunteer efforts. "Our experience is always gratifying. Everyone talks the next week about how good it felt to give back to the community and how we can't wait to do it again next year." she said.

About Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West

Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing by building simple, decent and affordable housing. Since it was founded in 1981 as the tenth Habitat affiliate in the US and the first in Louisiana, over 100 repairs, 17 major home renovations and 100 new home construction projects were completed and sold to partner families with no-profit, zero-interest mortgages.
